A new research item is now available to download free of charge from the Social Firms UK Resource Centre. The "Carpet Cleaning Care Research Dissertation" has been written by Mark Bertram to explore two points:

This presentation was given by Sheila Durie at the Social Firms Europe (CEFEC) conference in Prague in 2009.

This report was commissioned by Demos (the think tank for everyday democracy) and Crisis (the national charity for single, homeless people). It looks at:

• work, life skills and moving away from homelessness
• breaking down barriers: obstacles to returning to work for homeless people
• learning the lessons:understanding what works.
